The ER here is excellent, and they have some of the best emergency doctors and nurses around. Unlike a city hospital, the wait times aren't usually very long. On the other hand, I hate being admitted here because the standard of care seems to be lower than it is at St Francis or Hartford Hospital. For many years, JMH had a reputation as "the place you go to die," and on the occasions when I was admitted it has seemed that they are still struggling to get over that.

The longest wait times I have ever had to deal with. Fiancé is super sick can barely move and all we can do is sit and listen to the ER staff talk about very inappropriate things. Waited for 2 hours listening to that very unprofessional nurses behind the desk in the ER.

I unfortunately had to be seen in the ER today, but was pleasantly shocked by the experience here. The staff were professional, courteous, and quick; I was honestly in and out of there within half an hour. The doctor was super nice and clearly takes the time to continue educating himself on new medical advances. The entire place was clean, and there wasn’t one moment where I didn’t feel I wasn’t being completely taken care of. A+!

Very clean. Reception was friendly and helpful. I was here for a day surgery

I was in a car accident and was strapped to a board to be immobilized. They put me as-is in the room at the ER and left me there for hours alone without a check in. I listened to doctors glibly talking about their patients in the hallway. About the fat guy, the lady that was "probably a prostitute", and so on. It was horrible. However, i had my daugher here too. The maternity ward was like a motel with crazy attentive staff. The whole area was pretty and clean, busy nurses who MAKE time for you. I had a complex birth and met every nurse working there throughout my stay, every single one was an absolute angel with kind and reassuring words.
